We are an all-male, Christian-focused school serving grades 3-7 with an intentional design to provide activities especially for boys who are having difficulty meeting the expectations in a fast-paced academic setting.
The learning activities will be designed to be focused and intentional to impact the high illiteracy rates and circumvent the proliferation of violence and poverty that they are subjected to daily.
The intensity and focused exposure daily will help them to circumvent environmental factors that impede their ability to succeed academically.
The Academic Curriculum of Solomon Heritage Academy is aligned with Georgia Standards.
With this foundation, the curriculum pace focuses on the mastery of Solomon Heritage Academy standards, while differentiating instruction to meet the needs of each scholar. The content areas of Language Arts and Social Science are integrated with Science and Math to create a motivating learning environment for scholars. The curriculum focuses especially on meaningful learning experiences, student-centered approaches, individual learning styles, and gives more responsibility and ownership to each scholar’s education.
Fundamentally, scholars will focus on developing comprehension strategies that will enable them to manipulate grade-level texts of appropriate complexity and communicate effectively both in writing and speaking. Mathematics standards are important to ensure scholars develop positive mathematics mindsets and dispositions toward mathematics.
Solomon Heritage Academy aligns its grade-level content and skills with the use of pacing guides. The curriculum is not only determined by a set of standards or a textbook, it utilizes a variety of instructional methods including project-based learning.
